A Victory

Morning everyone! This is not so much of a late posting but more of a victory! We've been visiting the underpasses at Irving Park road, Montrose, Wilson, Lawrence, and Foster avenue, for the last year and as myself and John King go through to provide aid we notice that a lot of the tents are gone. Some of the tents have moved from the underpasses into the Parks but a large percentage of the tents have been removed or locked at the zipper (meaning they will be back but unsure when.) Of course, we were concerned so as we were passing out our packages we ran into one of the main people under the viaducts there. He advised us that a few other organizations, along with ours, have been visiting the underpasses and have been getting people housing throughout the summer and leading into the fall. To complete our day out, me and John King went to the Belmont underpass to give the extra surplus that we had for the underpasses up north.

This is a huge victory for us because regular everyday people, just like you and me, are noticing that the homeless are people just like us and are willing to take the necessary steps to get them the aid and assistance that they need.

This put huge smiles on both of our faces as we completed possibly the shortest mission in The Backpack Operation history.

We will continue to provide aid throughout the city of Chicago and the suburbs. It's because of everyone in this group that we're able to go out there and help and to continue providing aid even throughout this next phase of the pandemic.

Thank you!
